Marketing Advice Q&A: Jessica Sheehy

Jessica's Social Savvy HQ was one of the first Instagram accounts I started following when I started my business. Her posts and webinars have taught me A LOT about social media marketing over the years with entrepreneur-focused lessons balanced by her cool, casual approach.

Meet Jessica.

Jessica is the owner and CEO of Social Savvy HQ, a social media marketing company helping service-based entrepreneurs build an Instagram presence that converts and thrives. She went from side-hustling while working a corporate marketing job in NYC to having a team of content creators and a full client roster.

She currently lives in Tampa, FL with her husband – her high school sweetheart – and a mini-goldendoodle, Winston.

Q: What advice would you give to someone starting a new business?

A: The absolute first thing you need to do as a new business owner is identify who your target audience is (who you are selling to), and REALLY get to know them. Dig deep and understand, "who are they?"

They need to be a specific avatar/niche and not a general group of people. What do they desire? What do they struggle with? This is how you will connect with them, market to them well, and convert them into sales.

Q: What's one thing about marketing your business that you wish you discovered sooner?

A: It doesn't have to be "perfect", because when you are holding a piece of content from being published into the world because you want to make small tweaks to the design or copy, or you're nervous about how it will be perceived, you are hurting your business. Put it out in the world, and if it doesn't go as planned, reassess, and try again!

Q: What are your thoughts on recent changes with Instagram? Do you plan to adjust your content strategy to keep up with the push for more video/Reels?

A: I plan on keeping our strategy for our account and our client's accounts the same – my focus is always on an audience-first content strategy so I know when I'm creating content directly for people because I know what they desire/struggle with, I know they will engage!

Thank you.
